This organization has responsibility for writing and maintaining a Standard on biological safety cabinets. The international standard is NSF 49-1992, Class II Biohazard Cabinetry. They also have developed and maintain an international certification program for biological safety cabinets.

NEBB has a regular journeyman certification program for filter testing and they are nationally recognized.
